Privy browser extension — Privacy policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026

This extension (“Privy”) helps you fill web forms using a profile and optional documents you store with the Privy service.

Data the extension accesses

  • Privy account session: If you sign in on the Privy web app, the extension may sync your sign-in state so you can use fill features without signing in again in the extension.
  • Sites you enable: The extension only runs on origins you explicitly enable for form filling. It reads page structure (form fields, labels) needed to fill fields — not unrelated page content for advertising.
  • Your profile and vault data: Stored and processed by the Privy backend according to your account; the extension transmits data over HTTPS to the deployed API.

Permissions (why we need them)

  • Storage: Local settings, optional session tokens, and site enablement.
  • Scripting / activeTab: Inject the fill engine only on sites you enable.
  • Tabs: Open your dashboard and sync session from the Privy web app when appropriate.
  • Side panel: Show the Privy UI next to the page.
  • Host access: Call the Privy HTTPS API; optional broad permission is only used when you grant access per site for filling.
